MSI outs Windows 8 Slider S20 Hybrid Tablet (video)

MSI has just introduced the Slider S20, a hybrid tablet that features an 11.6-inch multi-touch screen and is based on Intel’s Chief River platform.  It also sports a bunch of I/O ports including USB 3.0 and HDMI, as well as built-in WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

The MSI Windows 8-toting S20 hybrid has a fairly slick tilting mechanism that locks the 11.6-inch touchscreen at an angle, turning the slate into a pseudo-laptop right on the spot.  MSI is only willing at this early stage to mention a few key details, but it’s promising at least one Slider S20 variant with a properly speedy low-voltage Ivy Bridge chip as well as 4GB of RAM.

The S20 can be used without sliding the keyboard out – if you want more of a tablet touch screen experience. However, since the tablet runs Windows 8, we don’t expect to see the Slider S20 Ultrabook hybrid until sometime in the September/October time frame when Microsoft Windows 8 is officially tipped to launch.

The Slider S20 is expected to reach Europe in September at €899 ($1,121) in its full Ivy Bridge glory along with a lower-powered model at €799 ($996).
