Facebook & HTC to Introduce new Android-Based OS and Handset

While HTC’s Status Facebook phone wasn’t exactly a blockbuster product, it does look like Facebook is looking to partner once again with HTC for a second-generation handset.  On April 4th, a Facebook media event is scheduled to occur, and they’re titling it, “Come See Our New Home on Android”.  We know that the event is set to feature an HTC smartphone with a custom, Facebook-centric OS.  It’s perhaps the next best thing to a phone designed and manufactured by Facebook, but instead, HTC will be making the hardware. The integration is expected to run deep including a Facebook home screen.

Additionally, the device’s camera and messaging apps will default to Facebook, according to sources. Hardware specifications have not yet been released, but software will clearly be the focus here.
