The Jurassic World Games to Check Out Ahead of a Rumored New Release

When Michael Crichton released his book Jurassic Park back at the start of the 1990s, you have to wonder whether he realized what he was unleashing on the world.

Steven Spielberg transformed the novel into a massive big screen blockbuster, using every trick in the special effects book to skillfully bring dinosaurs back to life. The movie’s success transformed the concept into a major multimedia franchise and now, if online speculation is to be believed, its offshoot Jurassic World brand looks set for a return to the world of video gaming.

    Jurassic World Aftermath

A number of sites including GamesRadar.com have reported on suggestions that a new game based on Jurassic World could well be in the pipeline.

According to the website, the fansite Jurassic Outpost has spotted a new trademark application filed by Universal Studios in the middle of April, with it relating to a project called Jurassic World Aftermath.

But what could the new title entail? There are no specific, in-depth details regarding what the trademark relates to, although the application is believed to cover video games, elements for console and mobile and even virtual reality technology.

    Big screen success and beyond

Regardless of what the game involves, it would not be a major surprise to see the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchises return to the world of video gaming. After all, a new title would capitalize on the big screen success of the most recent films.

According to Box Office Mojo, Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard made more than $1.67 billion at the global box office, while its sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is thought to have reached a worldwide figure of more than $1.3 billion.

Both of the ‘Jurassic’ brands have also become a huge hit in a multimedia sense too. For example, the universe has inspired a series of graphic novels in the past, including an official adaptation of the original Jurassic Park movie which was created by Topps. It is also one of many famous franchises to get its very own theme park ride, with Jurassic World – The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood featuring several different attractions. Jurassic Park has even gone on to have a presence in the casino world too, with some online casinos offering an online slot based on the blockbuster. Furthermore, a quick trip to the Universal Orlando shop highlights how a range of clothing and accessories based on the brands – including tees and even windbreakers – can also be easily purchased. A diverse range of games

However, one area where the presence of the dinosaur franchise has clearly been felt through the years is in the world of video gaming. Any rumored new release would be joining a fairly extensive and diverse list of titles that have been released across the last few decades, but which could be worth checking out before the next game lands?

There are many different titles out there, but one good place to start may be the straightforward fun of the Lego-themed games. So many well-known brands like Marvel and Star Wars have been celebrated in brick form in video games and the fact that Jurassic World has also had the treatment in 2015 shows the high regard that the franchise is held in.

The brand has also made the move onto mobile too, with titles like Jurassic World: The Game giving players the chance to build their own theme park and also bring many different species of dinosaurs to life. Jurassic World games can also be found in a rather more surprising area of the world of technology as well. Created by Earplay alongside Universal, Jurassic World Revealed is an interactive audio story built for use with Amazon’s Alexa smart home technology. It features six chapters and revolves around a plot where a podcaster has visited the famous location of Islar Nublar.

    Exciting times ahead

The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World brands have proven to be huge hits not just at the cinema, but in a range of different forms of media. News of a potential new game is intriguing and it will be fascinating what kind of direction the title ultimately goes in.

The franchise has shown on numerous occasions in the past that it is not afraid to try surprising things when it comes to games, so further news on a new release is sure to stir up plenty of excitement and anticipation.
