    Acer announces Liquid Metal Smartphone

    Acer has officially announced their Liquid Metal smartphone.  Powered by Android. it also has a Qualcomm 7230 800MHz, WiFi N, HSDPA connectivity and an Internet browser that has Flash support.  In terms of interface, Acer has skinned the Android OS with their own proprietary UI called Breeze for managing apps, and an app called SocialJogger for administering social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter from one place.

    The device is equipped with a 3.6-inch touchscreen that Acer says is rounded to grant a truly sensational visualization.  There are also a set of LED lights on the face of the handset to indicate low battery power, incoming messages and missed calls. In terms of optics, the Liquid Metal has been outfitted with a 5-megapixel camera with image stabilization, smile/face recognition and an LED flash.  It can capture 720p video with Dolby Surround technology.

    Acer has also included a Hotspot feature so you can share your Internet connection.  The Acer Liquid Metal is not available in the U.S. yet, but you can expect it in Europe in a brown finish this November for £299.   The silver version will arrive this December.
