    Smartfish ErgoMotion Keyboard

Smartfish ErgoMotion KeyboardSmartfish introduces the ErgoMotion Keyboard, the world’s first intelligent keyboard that prevents Repetitive Stress Injury. The keyboard features a patented motion-system that studies your typing frequency, and subtly changes your hand and wrist position while you work.

The ErgoMotion Keyboard features a patented ErgoMotion technology that interacts with you, operated by a sophisticated intelligence that monitors your typing frequency, and determines when to automatically and subtly change its position so your hands and wrists are never in a fixed state while you type. This periodic movement in hand and wrist posture promotes circulation, enhancing comfort and reducing the risk of injury.

ErgoMotion technology applies motion to the traditional static wrist, a solution that actually reduces the risks of Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI). The ErgoMotion Keyboard was developed with an intelligent motion-system that tracks your typing activity and periodically changes position so your hands and wrists are never restricted while you type. It’s the movementthat prevents hand and wrist strain, which subsequently prevents carpal tunnel and other associated injuries. ErgoMotion is a breakthrough technology that has been designed in collaboration with the highly regarded Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York — the #1 rated orthopedics hospital in the country.Smartfish ErgoMotion Keyboard 2

Most ergonomic products are designed to find the perfect “fixed position” to alleviate stress. These products are designed with the belief that by placing the user’s hands and wrists at a “natural” angle, that this will properly address Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI). However, studies show repetition, not the position, induces RSI such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), proving that any fixed position will not solve the problem. In fact, over time, prolonged work in the same position will only cause injury no matter how natural the position.

ErgoMotion™ is built on the concept that movement is the key to healthier computing. The medical community has long supported movement to be beneficial to the human body, which promotes blood flow and decreases inflammation—inadequate blood circulation and inflammation are both considered key contributors to RSI.

It was Smartfish’s founder, Dr. Jack Atzmon, who’s own experience with RSI lead him to question the effects ergonomic computer products had while he worked. Through Dr. Atzmon’s own research, he challenged “fixed-position” products and their claimed benefits, and developed a theory that motion was the solution to true ergonomics.

Smartfish partnered with New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) to study the affects motion would have on a user while they compute. It was the collaboration with HSS that helped develop ErgoMotion™, proving subtle, even incremental movement would increase blood flow and reduce inflammation eliminating the risks of RSI. By applying motion to products, ErgoMotion™ is redefining the future of ergonomics. It is the first technology to actually address the root causes of RSI.Smartfish ErgoMotion Keyboard 3

The Smartfish ErgoMotion Keyboard is powered by a single USB connection. What makes this power source so unique is it was engineered to be robust enough to power the ErgoMotion technology and handle user workload. This single power source makes the keyboard simply plug-and-play without additional wires or connections needed.

System requirements include PCs running Windows® XP, Windows® Vista, Windows® 7
    or Mac OS® X (10.2.8 or later). ($150, http://smartfishtechnologies.com)
