Universal
MyQ Garage works with almost all brands of garage door openers made after 1993, and it’s a breeze to install. It took us under 25-minutes. All we had to do was mount the Wi-Fi Hub near the garage door opener, plug it in, attach the Door Sensor to the upper panel inside of the garage door, and after connecting to the Wi-Fi Hub to our network and installing the free Chamberlain MyQ app, the app did the rest. The app itself provides you with a number of options, some which are more advantageous than others when it comes to operation.
Get Notified
You’ll receive alerts any time your garage door opens, so you’ll know when kids are home safely from school or other family members have arrived. Alerts will also let you know if you forgot to close the door when you left home. A nice thing is that you can install the app on many devices, including iPhone and Android devices, so that if you want to get alerts to the door opening, it will appear everywhere; on your tablet, on your laptop, on your smartphone. You can also set up MyQ Garage with any laptop, desktop computer or any device that is connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network.
Lose your Phone?
If you lose your phone, there are password settings built into the MyQ app so that controls will be accessible to only you. The best part about MyQ is that there are no expensive home automation systems necessary, no monthly services charges and no ongoing fees. Additionally, other family members are also able to control the garage door from their phones. You can download and install the app to as many phones as you wish, and segment each user out with a different key code.
It should be noted that under extreme weather conditions (think cold), the door opener may have trouble responding to the wifi hub. In such a case it may be advantageous to bring it in doors where the operating temperature will allow it to function.
