Palm webOS 1.4 coming to Sprint Pre and Pixi on the 15th

Sprint will definitely have some competition with their Palm WebOS line-up, now that Verizon has adopted their versions: The Pre Plus and Pixi Plus.  However, it may not be all bad news for Sprint.

According to a screen capture posted to PreCentral’s forums by a Sprint employee, both the Pre and Pixi will be getting the WebOS 1.4 software update on the 15th. The update is said to bring enhancements to phonebook transfers, messaging, and calendars as well as, and this is a biggie, video recording and editing.

This will make the Sprint webOS handsets up-to-speed on competitiveness as it relates to the latest smartphone line-up across all carriers.  I’m still stewing over the lack of WiFi on the Sprint Palm Pixi, but hey, Verizon got it right with the Pixi Plus.

Reportedly, Verizon will not get this update until later. So now we have Verizon’s “plus” phones not looking so “plus”, as Sprint prepares for a whopper of a feature update. (www.palm.com)
