India Set to Release The $35 Tablet

As reported by Shutter Voice and as quoted by BBC, CNN and major online news channels, India is all set to release the $35 tablet. Take a look at what anchors had to say:

    • “India unveils $35 computer for students,” says CNN.com.

    • “India unveils prototype for $35 touch-screen computer,” reports BBC News.
    • “India to provide $35 computing device to students,” says Business Week.
Apparently a $35 tablet, which is said to be the breakthrough solar powered hand held PC, will be released somewhere in 2011.

According to Mamta Varma – a spokeswoman for the human resource development ministry said that the tablet was originally an idea of a couple of Indian universities. However, seeing to the efforts of those students, we had to invest heavily in the project to come up with the possibility of having the most cheapest, affordable and disposable tablet PC.

As of now, 1 million tablets are expected to roll out as a test product in the market.
