OnStar Getting Facebook Button, In-Vehicle Social Networking

General Motors’ in-car safety system OnStar is receiving a software update to allow Facebook integration as early as this month. Sources detail that the system would offer a speech-to-text function that would allow you to post and comment to Facebook without typing.

Analysts are claiming the OnStar “social upgrade” is an attempt to keep up with the well received Sync system designed by Microsoft and included in Ford vehicles. OnStar may begin offering entertainment and information services that link to a user’s smartphone without a subscription or fee.
