Poly Studio P15 – All-In-One Personal USB Video Bar (FULL REVIEW)

Since the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic started, many companies decided to take up remote-working business models by having their employees working directly from home. If that’s you’re case and you’re still working from home, you probably know that when participating on a business meeting from your home office, sometimes your laptop (or desktop computer) doesn’t come equipped with all the necessary tools for you to have a decent business meeting experience. That could include low-end features like a low-quality camera, a low-quality microphone (especially those with no noise cancelling), or even low quality speakers. That said, getting a laptop that includes all of those high-quality components can be somewhat expensive, and specifically for desktop computers, purchasing those components separately (a decent camera, microphone, and speakers) can come at an even higher cost. So, if you’re looking for a better solution that allows you to participate on online business meetings without having to worry about the quality of your video and audio, then the Poly Studio P15 Personal Video Bar is perfect for that.

The Poly Studio P15 is an all-in-one USB video bar that comes equipped with a high-performance 4K camera, and a powerful built-in speaker and multi-microphone array.

While this video bar’s 4K camera comes equipped with a built-in Privacy Shutter and features an Automatic Camera Framing functionality that allows you to always stay in view while moving around your office room, the unit’s built-in speaker and multi-microphone array ensure that both the audio you receive from the other end as well as your own voice’s audio-quality are respectively played and recorded at a very high-quality.

Not only that, but this feature-packed video bar also works together with a NoiseBlockAI Technology and an Acoustic Fence Technology, which work together to keep your background noise at a minimum level.

Last of all, this video bar is fairly easy to setup, mainly thanks to its plug-and-play USB connectivity. All that makes it the perfect personal video-conferencing solution for you to perform premium video calls on a regular basis.

So, let’s have a more detailed look at the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar and check out everything that this awesome all-in-one video bar has to offer you.

Starting with the video bar’s ultra-compact size, the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar measures exactly 17 inches long by 3 inches wide by 2.5 inches tall (without its Adjustable Monitor Clamp installed), or 17 inches long by 3 inches wide by 3 inches tall (meaning a 0.5 inches increment in height while having its Adjustable Monitor Clamp installed). Additionally, the video bar is also Tripod-ready straight out of the box.

Furthermore, this video bar also features a really sleek and ultra-minimalist design that ultimately allows it to very easily blend in with any choice of home decor that you are currently “rocking” at your home office.

Video-Camera & Camera Specs

As mentioned before, the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar comes equipped with a high-performance 4K Ultra HD Camera that can record video at 2160p with a 16:9 aspect ratio and with a great video-quality, featuring true color video-recording and low-light compensation (which are two great functionalities certified by both Zoom and Microsoft Teams), all while having the camera working at a 90° Display FOV (Field of View).

Additionally, you can also configure the video bar’s camera to work with Full HD settings (meaning having it recording at 1080p), or even at just HD settings (recording at 720p) if you so choose to.

The unit’s 4K Camera can also have its Electronic Zoom adjusted up to four-times (x4), and via the camera’s proprietary Desktop App (called the Poly Lens Desktop App), you can also adjust the camera’s Manual Pan, Tilt and Zoom Control.

As stated earlier, the video bar’s 4K Camera also integrates a built-in Privacy Shutter (which can be manually rotated to have it Shut Closed or Opened Up) and an Automatic Camera Framing functionality, which ensures that you can always stay in view during your business conferences and move with confidence during your calls.

Speaker and Microphone Array & Audio Specs

As said at the beginning or the article, this all-in-one USB video bar also comes equipped with a powerful built-in speaker (which features a Volume Output of 80 dBA @1000 Hz, working with a decent audio-quality that can be heard up to 1 meter at maximum volume) and with a 3-Element Beamforming Microphone Array (which features a Frequency Response of 100 Hz to 20 kHz).

Both of the unit’s audio-components (speaker and microphone array) can be found integrated directly at the top side of the unit’s body.

The combination of these two high-quality components ultimately ensures that both the audio you receive from the other end as well as your own voice are respectively played and recorded at a very high-quality.

Moreover, the video bar also integrates a small built-in Status LED Light that indicates when the user is on a Call as well as whenever the video bar’s Microphone Array is muted.

Lastly, and as said before, the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar also comes packed with several of the company’s proprietary noise-reduction technologies, including its Poly Acoustic Clarity technology, which ensures that you can always have full-duplex conversations, acoustic echo-cancellation and background noise suppression.

Additionally, and as mentioned earlier, this video bar is also powered by the company’s proprietary Poly NoiseBlockAI Technology and a Poly Acoustic Fence Technology, which also work together to help the video bar’s 3-microphone array to keep background noise at a minimum.

Lastly, I’d also like to point out that this video bar is electric-powered, and as such, it works by connecting its external DC Power Supply (12V/3A) to any standard wall outlet.

For its Interface (meaning the video bar’s Connection Panel), the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar features one (x1) USB-C 3.0 port (which also offers USB 2.0 compatibility), two (x2) USB-A 2.0 ports (which can be used for connecting a wireless headset adapter or other peripherals by using the video bar as your dedicated USB hub), the unit’s Power Connection port, and a Kensington Security Lock.

Connectivity-wise, the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar support USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and USB 3.1, and the video is also UVC/UAC Plug-and-Play Compatible.

Keep in mind that to have the video bar’s Camera Settings working with 4K video (meaning 2160p), you’re required to use have a USB 3.0 connection established.

Regarding the Poly Studio P15’s OS-Compatibility, this USB video bar works with both Windows (Windows 8.1 and 10) as well as with Mac OS (Mac OS 10.10 or higher)

That said, this USB video bar is compatible with just about any application that supports standard USB/UVC standards.

I’d also like to mention that the Poly Studio P15 Video Bar works together with the company’s Poly Lens Cloud Service, and support to Poly+ enhanced is also available.

Inside each package you’ll find: your Poly Studio P15 USB Video Bar, the video bar’s Adjustable Monitor Clamp, the unit’s Power Supply Adaptor and Power Cord, the video bar’s USB-C Connection Cable (which also requires an adapter to connect to the unit via its USB-A port to a PC/Mac), and the video bar’s Setup Sheet / Instruction Manual.

The Poly Studio P15 is an all-in-one USB video bar that comes equipped with a high-performance 4K camera, and a powerful built-in speaker and multi-microphone array.
