The Rise of Mobile Gaming – How Technology helped the Mobile Gaming Market

When it comes to playing video games, there’s nothing like playing a game on your Smartphone. All you have to do is pull your phone out of your pocket, unblock the screen, choose one of your favorite mobile games to play, and that’s it. Thanks to the many technological advancements that the Smartphone industry has seen over this last decade, Smartphones are now more powerful than ever, and are basically designed to work like portable pocket-laptops. Because of how good Smartphones are these days, people are now able to play better games on their Smartphones. We’re obviously talking about none other than the world of Mobile Gaming, which has been seeing a huge rise over these last 4 years (2017-2021).

In fact, nowadays, the mobile gaming industry is incomparably the largest between the different game development industries – PC, Console, and Mobile. According to a recent marketing report from data analyst company Newzoo, the mobile gaming market currently accounts for more than half of all game revenues that were recently generated via direct consumer spending. Just during this last year of 2021, the mobile gaming market was rated to be worth a whopping US$90.7 billion, while in comparison, the console video game market generated around US$49.2 billion, with the PC gaming industry coming as the lowest of all three fronts, only generating approximately US$35.9 billion.

With all that said, it’s safe to say that videos games have definitely came a long way since they were first being developed. From floppy disks, to CDs, all the way down to digital downloads, video games are now available in several different platforms, with mobile (iOS and Android) undoubtedly being the most famous of the three.

Now, you might be wondering exactly why mobile gaming has become so famous on a worldwide basis when compared to its other two counterparts – PC gaming and Console gaming. The main reason is because Smartphones are now designed to be so powerful that they can easily and very conveniently be used to play video games for countless hours on end and at an enjoyable FPS rate, which also comes accompanied by high-quality graphics, mind you.

Because of all of that, many video game developing companies decided to try out their luck within the Mobile Gaming industry, and maybe, just maybe, even get their own piece of the pie within this now super-competitive market.

So, here are the main three reasons why Mobile Gaming has become the biggest and most famous video gaming industry worldwide.

Smoother Gameplay at a Higher FPS Rate

First and foremost, Smartphones manufacturers have obviously been noticing just how big the mobile gaming industry truly is. As such, during these last few years, most Smartphone manufacturing companies have been equipping their newest and most recently released Smartphones with better CPUs than those found in their previous models.

We’re obviously talking about CPUs like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 5G Processor and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 5G Processor, which has given many different newly released Smartphones the capability to run just about any of the newest Mobile Gaming tittles at a high FPS count.

In fact, there are so many different Smartphones currently available for purchasing that have been designed with a focus in gaming, and most of those actually use either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Processor, including Smartphones like the Asus ROG Phone 5 (uses the Snapdragon 888), the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 (also uses the Snapdragon 888), or even slightly more affordable gaming-focused Smartphones like the Nubia Red Magic 5G (which uses the Snapdragon 865).

Other than coming equipped with really powerful CPUs that are focused on running CPU-demanding games, all of these Smartphones also integrate another great feature that makes them ready for gaming. That’s none other than their high-resolution screens, which also support a high refresh rate.

Specifically for the Asus ROG Phone 5, you’d be offered a refresh rate of 144Hz, which for mobile gaming, is simply astonishing!

Finally, these gaming-focused Smartphones now come with high-capacity RAM memories that usually either come in the form of 8GB or 12GB.

When having all of these features combined in a Smartphone, you’re obviously guaranteed to be able to take your mobile games to a whole new level.

    Better Graphics

On top of that, mobile game developer companies also develop their mobile tittles in parallel to the timeline that Smartphone manufacturing companies develop their upcoming models.

That’s because those mobile game developers want to make their newest mobile tittles as visually appealing as possible, and as such, they crank up the graphics of their games as much as possible.

Therefore, the end result usually tends to be a mobile game that comes with revolutionary, and outstanding graphics, which are then more easily processed by those same gaming-focused Smartphones and all of their high-components that we previously mentioned.

A great example of this would be Nintendo’s mobile version of their renowned Animal Crossing video game series, which for mobile is called Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

Game Availability with different Genres and Tittles

Finally, nowadays, we now also have a very wide selection of mobile games to choose from, which even includes a great variety of game genres.

That’s because, over these past few years, most video game developer companies quickly started to realize just how big the mobile gaming market really is.

As such, these video game developers obviously understood how good of an opportunity it would be to port any of their existing tittles to mobile platforms such as iOS and Android, or even develop entirely new game tittles for those same platforms.

Nowadays, with more and more video game developer companies looking to bring their famous PC tittles to the mobile platforms (iOS and Android), you can now play just about anything, from FPS games like Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, or even Call of Duty: Mobile, to playing Fantasy-Themed Turn-Based RPG Gacha Games like Raid: Shadow Legends, AFK Arena, and Idle Heroes, all the way down to more casual games like the renowned Farming Simulator RPG (Roleplaying Game), Stardew Valley.

Now, specifically when it comes to playing Idle games like AFK Arena and others, you’ll probably want to study some gameplay guides beforehand so that you know how to properly progress through those games.

In fact, for those passionate about playing casino games, there are even plenty of really cool Mobile Casino Games for you to choose from, and some of those even offer first-time players some sweet sign-up bonus as well as plenty of free spins to try out their games for the first time without any concerns whatsoever.

    FINAL THOUGHTS

So, as you can see, during these last few years, Smartphone manufacturers have been developing their upcoming models with a heavy focus on gaming, as newer Smartphones now require better gaming capabilities than older models in order to run the newest top-of-the-line mobile games.

All and all, if you’ve been looking to enter the world of Mobile Gaming, know that all you need is a gaming-ready Smartphone like one of the models we’ve suggested earlier. For checking all of the best and most recently released Gaming Smartphones for 2021, Click Here.
