    Vizio SB2020n-G6 Sound Bar Review

Have you always wanted an immersive experience when watching a movie or TV show with your personal home theatre? Having great sound quality is important when searching for the best experience. The new versatile Vizio SB202n-G6 Sound Bar System delivers spectacular audio quality that will transform the room. If you were waiting for a discount, this is your moment. Vizio’s sound bars just got cheaper. Priced at $70, the SB2020n-G6 is the company’s cheapest sound bar, without sacrificing too much to keep the cost down.

The SB2020n-G6 offers a simple setup and enough features to satisfy the needs of most entry-level or bedroom systems. It doesn’t have a subwoofer, so its sound quality is engineered with the purpose of making speech sound more understandable instead of shaking your room.

The main problem with this sound bar is that models that do have a wireless subwoofer – such as the Creative Stage or Vizio’s own SB3621 – sound a lot better, while costing just a bit more. With that said, in case you really don’t want a subwoofer, the SB2020 might be exactly what you’re looking for. It might not be the best deal ever, but it’s still a great value.

The Vizio SB2020n-G6 is a 20-inch stereo sound bar with an impressive number of features, going for a mere 70 bucks. It’s equipped with DTS Virtual:X, which is a post processing virtualization technology, which aims to creates the illusion of a multi-dimensional sound from two channels. The speaker itslef is a 2-channel PCM, and comes with a USB port, 3.5mm auxiliary and Bluetooth. If you ever want to add your own subwoofer, there’s also an RCA subwoofer output.

For such a small price, it’s impressive how many accessories are included in the box: a candy bar remote, an optical cable, a stereo RCA to 3.5mm as well as a RCA to 3.5mm adapter. The 2020 uses colors to symbolize each individual input, making it easy to understand. The remote offers every necessary function, working well together with the speaker’s system of colored LEDs and beeping sounds.

The SB2020 offers a fair performance between music and movies. Sadly, the subwoofer was missed when compared to the Creative Stage sound bar, which does have subwoofers. When listening to different types of music via the optical input, the sound bar performs well but isn’t astonishing. The Creative Stage sounds bigger and more powerful, since its subwoofer produces the extra bass. It’s also important to note that the Vizio’s cabinet rattles at higher volumes, so you shouldn’t rely on the SB2020 turning into a home theater powerhouse.

Adding a subwoofer to the Vizio helps to reach the expected amounts of power and volume, but it isn’t worthwhile buying one just to go with the SB2020. Decent subwoofers start at $300 and for that you can get a great sound bar equipped with a subwoofer, like the Polk Command Bar ($249 at Amazon). But, in case you have an old sub lying around, that would be ideal.

The compact Vizio SB2020n-G6 provides balanced and clear sound quality. The improved display system makes it easy to use. The subwoofer output offers some upgrade potential and will improve volume and home theater impact.
But the SB2020n-G6 doesn’t go that much louder than a TV speaker and can distort, when at maximum volume. The Creative Stage sound bar as well as Vizio’s SB362An-F6 offer better sound quality for a bit more money.

In conclusion, the Vizio SB2020n-G6 is an enjoyable and easy-to-use sound bar, but you’ll get a better deal if you are willing to spend a bit more to get a model with a wireless sub.
