Tapplock one+ Smart Fingerprint Padlock Review

Tapplock Corp. is an IoT technology company that provides smart security solutions to both end-consumers and enterprise clients. Tapplock was started in 2016 in Toronto, Canada. The company was named Canada’s Top 15 Tech Startups by Metabridge, and awarded the iF Design Award and CES Innovation Award Nominee in 2018. Tapplock is known for its signature fingerprint-based smart padlocks that are fast to access and easy to manage. This brings us to the Tapplock one+, the company’s newest smart fingerprint padlock.

The Tapplock one+ is crafted for the practical. It’s bold, sturdy, and secure, featuring 7mm reinforced stainless steel shackles, strengthened by double-layered lock design with anti-shim and anti-pry technologies, making it the ultimate utility fingerprint padlock. This padlock is rated IP67 waterproof, meaning it’s both water and weather-proof, allowing it to function even when completely submerged. It’s also dust-proof and rust-proof, and will function properly between -4F to 149F (-20C to 65C). The Tapplock one+ padlock is equipped with a rechargeable battery that offers up to one year of battery life per charge (or 3,500 unlocks), and you’re able to check its remaining power via the Tapplock app. The Tapplock one+ padlock will blink red when power is below 10%, and in case the battery runs out, an 8 second charge using any portable battery pack will rr-power the Tapplock.

Its state-of-the-art capacitive fingerprint sensor allows users to unlock it in under 0.8 seconds. This padlock works with an adaptive algorithm, meaning that the lock becomes faster and more accurate with each access. Owners can store up to 500 different fingerprints per lock, as well as manage other users and their fingerprints via the Tapplock App, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store.

Sharing access with other users is really simple, since owners are able to share Bluetooth access remotely with unlimited users. Owners can set permanent access or limited access with flexible dates and times, and can also revoke access whenever they wish. Owners are also able to track and monitor the padlock’s access history with time and location via the Tapplock app. The Tapplock one+ padlock can be unlocked in three different ways. There’s Fingerprint Unlocking, Bluetooth Unlocking via the Tapplock app, and Backup Morse-Code Unlocking by pressing long / short combinations on the power button.

The Tapplock one+ padlock is currently available in 3 different colors: Sterling Silver (Light Grey), Gun Metal (Dark Grey), and Midnight Black. If you’re interested in getting one Tapplock one+ padlock for yourself (or more), one unit currently goes for $100, but you can also get a double pack at a discounted price of $180, or a 4-pack that’s also discounted for $350.
